More welding

Now the starter motor replacement is now complete the DS has been turned around to start cutting out the rear floor just before the boot. A new panel has been sourced which is a lot thicker (1.3mm) than the original. The rear suspension cylinder mounting point has suffered badly from corrosion, which makes it all the more difficult to find a substantial jacking point, lots of careful positioning of stands and thick wood make it just about possible.

N/S/R boot floor and suspension cylinder mounting point.

  1. Keen to see your progress here Colin, the best of D models hide rust too well. Pretty fortunate in Australia, no salting of roads and a pretty dry climate has helped preserve our cars.

Happy anniversary for the 23rd, not quite as you planned but you and your wife will have a great time, enjoy :)
